Ministry of Welfare - is responsible for disability policies and provides coordination between ministries. Ministry of Welfare is the focal point for matters relating to the implementation of CRPD in Latvia.

Latvia signed CRPD on 18 July 2008 and ratified it on 1 March 2010. Latvia signed OP CRPD on 22 January 2010 and ratified it on 31 August 2010.

The Latvian Umbrella Body for Disability Organisations (SUSTENTO) founded in 2002. At the moment it has 32 national member organisations representing about 50 000 people with disabilities.
