The main contact point for co-ordination of disability policy at the national level is:

  • Spoločný sekretariát Výborov/Ministerstvo práce, sociálnych vecí a rodiny SR (Common Secretariat of the committees, Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic). One of them is a Committee for people with disabilities as an advisory body for the Slovak government regarding disability issues.

Data on population with disabilities

There is noreliable comprehensive national survey on population with disabilities. The only credible   source of statistics on people with disabilities is the LFS ad hoc module on health problems and disability 2002.

Disabled people’s organisations

The national assembly representing disabled people’s organisations is:

  • Národná rada občanov so zdravotným postihnutím v SR(The National council of persons with disabilities in the Slovak republic (NCPD). This is an umbrella civil/non-governmental organisation of persons with disabilities in Slovakia, the national partner of the European Disability Forum and the official partner of the Slovak government for decision making about disability issues.
